About Screen printing
Here at Elusive Press we have both a manual press and an automatic press.
Both achieve the same screen prints we all love, simply by pulling ink across a screen.
Whereas the manual press, the squeegee is pulled by hand. On the automatic press it is pulled by a pneumatic print head.
For smaller jobs we still like to use our manual press, as there is something special about producing hand pulled t-shirts but this does have its downside. When printing bigger orders the repetitive printing fatigue sets in, which can affect the consistency of the prints.
This is where the automatic press comes to play. On larger orders the pneumatic printheads keep even pressure throughout the entire run, ensuring prints remain the highest quality and maintain crisp, sharp edges.
RSI (repetitive strain injuries) are a big issue with screen printing, so having the auto press for long repetitive print runs ensures our team is less susceptible to the risk of such injuries.

Understanding Screen Printing and Colours
Screen printing is a super high quality and durable method to print garments.
It’s a labour intensive process with each colour of the print requiring a separate screen printing screen/plate. Each additional colour is hand printed then spot dried between colours.
The garment is rotated on a specialist screen printing carousel for the application of each additional colour. The garments are then heat cured in a tunnel dryer to provide maximum print durability and colour longevity.
What is screen printing good for?
Screen printing is a great way to produce anything from 10 – 1000+ printed garments.
It is the best possible way to re-produce a design onto a garment.
