About Screen printing

Screen printing is achieved by pulling ink across a silk screen stencil with a hand-pulled squeegee.

All our screen printing here at Elusive Press is hand-pulled. We choose this method over automated presses.

The benefit of hand printing is a human can sense when a slight direction change of the squeegee is needed, or if the print requires a slightly different approach to achieve the best results. There are many sensitive changes that can be required within the same print run.

Each colour in the design will require its own print screen/plate. All the screens are individually set up on the carousel and registered to ensure the final print lines up perfectly.

Understanding Screen Printing and Colours

Screen printing is a super high quality and durable method to print garments.

It’s a labour intensive process with each colour of the print requiring a separate screen printing screen/plate. Each additional colour is hand printed then spot dried between colours.

The garment is rotated on a specialist screen printing carousel for the application of each additional colour. The garments are then heat cured in a tunnel dryer to provide maximum print durability and colour longevity.

What is screen printing good for?

Screen printing is a great way to produce anything from 10 – 1000+ printed garments.

It is the best possible way to re-produce a design onto a garment.
